EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW!

Just curious...do the chickens show signs of lice/mites? Or do you find out by being with your chicken/holding them, and then you see them on their feathers?

Or on you? Eeek. I have sparrows flying in my chickens run when it's opened and I never thought about wild birds bringing in lice!!! Now I have to rethink some things...

Karen, I just went through the same senario. Don't forget to redust them in 10 days. I didn't do that the first time around, and had to start the process over.

Okay, I'm going to take all this advice and put it to good use. Since they were in a virgin coop, and under a covered run, I would have to say that my first pullet came with a few 11 weeks ago, and infested everyone 3 times over.
I think I will dust everything! Poor Clarisse, she's the one that was debeaked. No wonder she's not laying any eggs at 28 weeks old. My poor baby.

Question , I ran around sprinkling dust on everyone. What's the right way to dust a chicken?
