EEs 25 weeks and no eggs yet...

Luckitri, I loved your Henrietta story!
My EE Henrietta (my avatar) is still not giving me eggs. She is going on 27 weeks now. Her EE sibling Cap'n Silver has been laying - about every 2nd or third day. Not exactly a topnotch producer, but I cherish these greenish eggs!

Does anybody know what the average laying rate for EEs is?

At the feed stores they are always trying to sell me Ameracaunas and they always say they are good layers. I said that I don't want anymore because they don't lay much. So the one guy admitted that if I get 3 or 4 a week I am getting good production for that breed.

I am trying several breeds now to see how I like them and I am not so happy with that chart that comes up every time I google for productivity and breed characteristics (Hendersons' I think) because the chart is not true to my experience so I don't trust it - it doesn't really say how regular they produce as I recall.

vermontgal, I have read that they started using antibiotics in the feed in the 1940's I believe, as it increases size and production. I would love my chicks to be organic but all that I have ever had have refused organic food - period. So I am not going to worry about it. They get enough other things that they are semi-organic anyway.

I read that someone's EE didn't lay until like 10 months. SO I am not on edge anymore. I also purchased a solar powered light for the coop. Maybe some more light will inspire her.

I have over 80 chickens, most of them being young still waiting for their first egg girls...I only got 4 eggs today? It is hard to wait, isnt it....short daylight, weather, stress issues,(oooh, that was a scary scary car at the neighbors house today!) even molting young!
Wish I could just push the egg dispenser button and they'd just lay the egg when I want it!
