Egg bound chicken - can the vent close over?

I have six 2 year old white leghorns. Last month we have had a few issues with what we believe is vent prolapse in one, then infections in a couple others. I have been applying monistat to all to clean up any infections. A week ago, one of the girls was bleeding from her vent, so I cleaned her up and treated her, and treated her each day. She seemed ok. They all seem ok now, but two days ago, one was acting strange, and I realized she has an egg that is stuck. I have been doing epson salt baths and applying vaseline trying to help her out, but nothing. I can't even feel the hole the egg can come out. Is it possible it grew over? She is trying and trying to lay, but nothing. I have her isolated now and dark towel over the crate. Is there anything else I can do for her?

Welcome to BYC @thompson107 ...sorry you are having troubles.

Monistat only treats yeast infections.

Is it possible it grew over?

No, but the egg can get stuck in twisted and swollen tissue....prolapse with egg stuck in it. Is the the same bird that prolapsed?
Not sure what to tell you to try next.....can you get pics of the vent?

It is not the same chicken that had the prolapse. She seems fine now. But post prolapse she had signs of a yeast infection, then so did two more. This is one of these two. So I treated them all. This one was bleeding quite a bit out her vent one day. I assumed her sisters had pecked at her. But after I cleaned her up, didn't see more blood.

She does not appear to have prolapse.

I soaked her and felt all around and put vaseline in the vent area, so she is not happy with me right now. She is resting. I will take a picture later tonight.

If twisted, how does one help it untwist?

She is still eating and drinking today.

Uploading pic of her vent. Rather gross. This is after I soaked and tried to help massage the egg out about 4 hours ago. And applied Vaseline in and around. The yellow is the first I have seen.

She happily soaks in her epsom salt bath.

It will be 48 hours tonight since I discovered the egg in her not coming out.

We soaked her. Put some monistat on and Vaseline around the area. Egg doesn’t seem to have changed. Not seeing vent to egg.

She had some poop come out in the bath and has been eating and drinking.

Back in crate. Not sure what else to do.

Okay so when you said closed up I imagined something else. To find the opening to the egg chute, gently insert your finger and check on her left side. Somewhere in that mass of red tissue is the opening. It looks really swollen, so it won't be easy to find.

The green / blue around the feathers is a cream I put on her early on to help her heal. The chickens are attracted to red so the cream is blue. That isn't anything wrong. But it does not wash off at all.
