Egg bound? Tried to examine vent, not sure if I did it right

These articles are so interesting. I did check the site of the local animal lab which is 30 minutes from me and it will cost 50 for a necropsy exam. I cannot bring myself to do that on my pet. I will make an appointment with the vet to put her down and then take her to get the exam. It states that it will take 10 days for the report. When I get the results, I will let you know what it was that made her so sick. Thank you for the advise and friendship during this trying time.

It's always a hard decision to make, but if she's not getting better then letting her go will end her suffering.

Please do keep us updated on what you find out.

I dewormed the chickens in August. Then I took a sick chicken to the vets and when they did a float they said that they saw worm eggs and recommended that I redo the deworming which I did the beginning of December. with a different type that kills different worms. Two weeks in a row.

Should I tube feed her some ensure?
 
What did you deworm with?
Did the vet say what type of worms egg they saw?

I wouldn't use ensure to tube feed her. You can use Kaytee baby bird formula. I think you can get that at pet stores like Petsmart. You can also try tubing a really water mix of her feed.

If she passes any more the of the rubberyish stuff, that would be worth getting photo of.
Could be pieces of lash material which would indicate Salpingitis which is an infection of the oviduct.
Without knowing what's going on with her it's hard to know, but if you can get some Amoxicillin that may help if she has infection.
 
The first time I dewormed, I used safeguard. The second time I used Ivermectin. I gave her 0.5 of Agri-cillion for three days, then I switched to Trimeth sulfa 0.5.

I did bring in another chicken and compared the two. She is a little bit bigger than normal. I also discovered that she will eat a fried egg better than any other food that I have offered her. She must be getting better if she is willing to eat, drink, and is pooping. I am keeping an eye on her. If I feel that she is in misery, I will do the right thing.
