Egg bound, water belly or normal? She's a mallard and has been like this for a week.

How old is she? I have an automatic feeder so my ducks can eat all they want. They all have a slight (some not so slight) sag. If she isn’t tail pumping, isolating herself, or acting off some other way, I would think she has just put on a few 😃. But, I would hate to be wrong, so let’s see what others have to say too.

Have you felt her belly? When did she lay last?
She's my friend's duck. She showed up at their house a week ago and was really friendly and quiet. She's not really their pet. She can leave whenever she wants but chooses to stay. Btw my friend lives in town. They are going to bring up some of their runners from their farm property to keep her happy. She seems bright and not at all lethargic. Eating well. Hasn't layed yet but it's the end of winter so idk if she is supposed to.
I gave her a warm bath, put oil in her vent, massaged her and gave her a calcium supplement. The area didn't feel hard or squishy, it just felt like part of her belly

They have a garden btw. She doesn't stay in their house lol but she tries to get in

Is it possible someone dumped her off at your friend's home? It maybe she is just a little on the chubby side? May not have been fed a good diet where she was before?
I hope they have a safe place for her to stay overnight so predators don't take off with her.

Ok thanks hopefully it's not too serious. I think someone definitely raised her and then tried to release her to the wild

It's so sad when they do this because they rarely live long, Since she doesn't appear to be in distress I would say she isn't egg bound, there is usually tail bobby the vent pulses and they are off by themselves. Or this is the way my Muscovy acted when she was egg bound. I hope she likes her new Runner friends.
