egg bound?

Discussion in 'Chicken Behaviors and Egglaying' started by catfish/okie, Sep 18, 2009.

  1. I have a New Hampshire pullet that laid her first egg 4 days ago. She has not laid another since. I have another that has laid 31 eggs in 32 days. I got them a 5 month roo 3 days ago. She acts healthy and actually bullies the others when Im handing out treats. The guy at the feed store talked me into buying start-gro-lay the last time I got feed because I got some younger pullets. Do I have any worries? Thanks for any help! They always have oyster shells too.

Sounds okay to me. Not all hens are egg machines! Some go for weeks without laying an egg, not great but oh well.

My chickens were kind of sporadic when they first started laying. Took them a week or two to start laying regularly. Enjoy your eggs! [IMG]
  4. Thanks I kinda got a little worried when I was reading some posts about hatcheries and some folks said hatchery hens sometimes get egg bound and die.
