EGG bound~

I have a hen that has been egg bound for about a week and a half. I have let her soak in warm water and have given her veg oil. Nothing has worked to help her pass. I believe the egg shell has cracked inside her because you can see the yolk through the skin. I think my last resort is removing the egg by withdrawing it by needle. Has anyone ever done this before? This was the advice I was given by someone who has had chickens for years and years.

if she will let you stick your hand up there and see if you can see if it is an egg or if it is a broken one.

A week and a half is an emergency. If you are able to get a vet's help with this, I would do so urgently. Broken shell can cause infection and she can die from that. A stuck egg can cause heart failure trying to pass it. Any which way sliced, she needs relief. JJ
