Egg Candling

It's not clear to me because of the unclear photos. However, you should keep on incubating until around day 10-14, where you should see more movement and veins. I wouldn't toss any eggs yet. Last time I was incubating light brown eggs, I saw the same as you did on day 8 and tossed it. I opened it to find live chicks inside. Please DON'T toss any eggs until it's at LEAST day 10-12. Could you tell us the color of the eggs? It looks to me as if you have light brown eggs. White chicken/duck/other poultry are easier to candle.

Photo #1, 2 egg 1 might be developing?
Photo #3 egg 2 not fertile
Photo #4, 5 egg 3 not fertile
Photo #6 egg 4 not fertile
Photo # 7, 8 egg 5 might be developing?
Photo # 9, 10 egg 6 not fertile

@007Sean , what about #2? It looks fertile to me. In my opinion, #1,#2,#5, and #7 are fertile?? The pictures are not excatly clear. Also, today's Sunday and this was posted on Friday, so it's day 10? Can you take pictures of Candling?

Egg #2 looks clear to me! It is 'lit up' all over, not seeing anything. It's kinda hard to judge pictures, unless there is absolutely no mistaking a fertile egg from a non-fertile egg (can see veins, and the dark spot or embryo) or if they are too dark to see anything but the air cell, then it's pretty easy.

I was planning on candling again day 12 to check progress (I haven’t candled since day 8)
Egg shades vary from a very light brown to a deep brown. Have a feeling a few are not fertile because some of the lighter eggs seems to have development while some of the other lighter ones seem to have no development at all.

Took a peek at the eggs tonight. 4, maybe 5? Seem to have development- out of 18! The others have no apparent veining or growth whatsoever.
A little shocked but, will probably wait until lockdown to toss any.
There was one I thought looked a bit weird, it seemed dark like it had something in it but I couldn’t see any veining. Maybe a quitter? Didn’t get any photos tonight.

Good luck :)
I’m currently on day 20 of duck eggs
It’s always exciting to incubate and hatch babies
I prefer to turn my eggs by hand due to the turner I have keeps my eggs upright and to me that’s not a natural position. Although they can and do hatch this way it’s just not how I like to do it
2 times a day is much better then none but if you are able to add more even better. When I watched my broody duck she was moving her eggs every hour so the statistics of commercial with 100 of eggs going are just following a mom duck or chicken in how they do it
It’s also why turners are set up how they are with timing

Two more days until lockdown!
I have removed the unfertile eggs from the bator.
Of the three eggs left, two seem to have good veining/development. The last, I’m not sure. I can see some veins but much of the egg is dark/maybe cloudy, it’s rather difficult to see much movement
Would I be risking the other eggs by leaving the one in through lockdown?

if theres veins, its alive. Movement can be harder to notice at this point-- You'll be fine to leave it in. It might just be further developed/more full than the others.

The darker my eggshells the harder to see anything other than a dark blob and an air cell.

Did you sniff it? Did it smell rotten?

I think you would be at a high risk of tossing a developing embryo if you toss it as long as it does not smell like a rotten egg.
