Egg collecting, what's your favorite collection container?

I use wicker baskets. I've got 5 hanging on the wall in the basement. On the way to the coop I grab one or two and head out for some egg hunting!

I have a beautiful egg basket that my MIL gave me a few years ago. I think it's too pretty to get mucked up with egg poo so I use a feed bucket instead. When I dump feed I gather eggs in the same bucket. Works great for me

I use something that sort of looks like this, with a wash cloth in the bottom, I got it at Big Lots.

A flatter bottom would be better.

I found a small plastic paint pail on the paint aisle at Lowes for $1.74. I use it to take BOSS out to the girls and come back with eggs. I just have 13 pullets and right now the most eggs I get are 10 a day.

I have one like the bottom basket. Except it is wire and pink. I found it at dollar tree for $1!!! Work well for washing dirty eggs too so they don't soak and the water still washes them.

My pocket *ducks*

Actually, I'm kinda in trouble at the moment, since it's getting warmer, I put my winter coat (with it's deep, fluffy pockets) away for the year, and the girls are laying more.

My grandfather used to use coffee cans. You brought the feed out in a can, tossed it in the feeder, and then picked the eggs back into the can. We don't even buy the stuff that used to come in cans and now comes in weirdly shaped plastic... things... so that's not an option. I'm thinking I'm going to hit up Dining Services here on campus again and see if they have any more of the little quart pastry-filling buckets. I got some two years ago, but they're all in use now. I think they'd be perfect for eggs.

I love hearing folks getting nostalgic about coffee cans!

Cool - woven reed basket! That makes me nostalgic for my Mom's hippie friend who made baskets out of willow branches.

I finally broke an egg in my pocket yesterday, so it's time to get a basket.

I have a wire mesh strainer that I like to use ---holds a dozen easily even more if I am careful--- like the other poster the biggest plus is that I can put it right in the sink and rinse them.
