Egg color.... where did I go wrong?

Here's a picture of the room. I'm not defending the bird or the breeder. It was a local breeder do other people Trust. Very well may not have been what he said it was, but I can only go off what I was told.
I don't believe that's either a Brown Leghorn(no white earlobes-legs too dark) or a pure Ameraucana(plumage off, legs appear too light)
So probably some kind of cross/mutt.....could be EE, but blue egg gene existence let alone passage is not guaranteed, why your egg color was disappointing.

ETA: good gallery of SOP Ameraucana here http://ameraucanabreedersclub.org/gallery.html#_self

Yep. The reason you didn't get green egg laying offspring is because your rooster is not Ameraucana. He might not even have Easter Egger in him. When it comes to Ameraucana, you can not take a 'breeders' word that the birds are what they claim to be. Sad, but true. Educate yourself and familiarize yourself with what examples of the breed look like. It's a buy-beware market these days, with how popular backyard chicken keeping has become.

That's for sure!! Ameraucana and Araucana is one of the most misused breed names.

Thank you Aart. I could not care less if it was a tru breed or not. For the most part i breed Birds for meat and eggs. The majority of which I donate to a local food pantry. I did see in a number of places that mating a bird withgenes for blue to one with genes for Brown wood produce green egg layers. I did not know if I misunderstood, or if mybird was not what I was told it was.

The Report button is there for a reason, folks. I have heavily edited this thread. Please do not flame, call out, respond or otherwise do anything but ignore, report and move on with any posts anyone feels are in violation of our rules.

The moderators have an easier job if you do this and response time will be faster if they don't have to wade through a bunch of squabbling.

Thank you.

They will the blue shell genes can be the tricky ones, especially if depending on the cockbird side for them.
Better to use a blue laying hen/pullet, even if it's not a pure breed, then you know you have at least half a chance.
