Hi all, we currently have 4 hens, no roo as we are backyarders! They were all point of lay and in the last 3 weeks we have seen 3 of 4 start laying for the first time (silkie, ftizzle, polish) which is great. However my jersey giant has not yet laid, which iam very worried about as she has one a couple of occasions come out of her house clucking like she has just laid one, but there is nothing there. Could she be egg bound? Also I noticed today her vent feathers are a little damp.

The majority of our Jersey Giants took a long time to start laying. They looked like they might, they were in and out of the nesting boxes, their vents were moist, they even sang their egg songs, but didn't lay for weeks after their coop mates.

I would give her a few more weeks.

Ok thanks, is her wet vent anything to be worried by or is it just a laying thing as you said?
