I have a hen that is sitting on one egg 3 golf ball, (golf ball I put in the nest so she would know where to lay her eggs, the idea I got from here on this site). I checked the egg and it is not fertile. I am new at this, what should I do? she is expecting babies, there won`t be any. Thanks.

You could buy some fertile eggs for her.
Do you have a rooster? Without a rooster.... the eggs of course won’t be fertile...
Also, where is the best place to get fertile eggs...?

That's what I will do then. Does it matter if I get eggs that are a different breed?
Nope eggs are eggs. Lol. Some broodies have even hatched ducklings and quail.
