if i cant operate?

If you're unable to operate her then cull her, but if you can operate her to save her life then go for it

oh no i cant she is my pet and i love her. what if i mess up and cut her wrong and it all goes wrong

If you don't cull or find a way to treat it, the problem will only get worse, and she will suffer (as another poster said, it could lead to gangrene). I'm not trying to be mean, just practical and honest. I would hate to kill a pet that I loved, but I would also hate to see it suffer. If you don't want to cull, then maybe you could try to find a vet in your area that deals with poultry. It can be hard to find poultry vets (and expensive when you do), but it may be your best shot in this case.

I'm sorry to hear this. Unfortunately it is a dire situation. The options mentioned are simply the only ones available. Cull, attempt to operate, or find a vet. Which ever you choose, you need to decided quickly, as to spare the hen any undue suffering.

Oh, this is so sad, I've never had anything like this happen but the options they have said seems like all you have. You don't want her to suffer. I hope it works out and she's ok, please keep us updated.

ok GOOD NEWS on rosey. we went to our local vet. they cut it stitched it put some preperation H on it gave her an antibiotic shot. took about 15 min the charge was only like 27$ i was afraid of maybe 200 since they did have to cut and stitch. but she still has to pass another egg tomorrow and the vet said it could do the same thing but it might not so i am so worried this will happen again. she is still hanging out some and when she poops it gets on that. the vet said it might get infected i guess thats why she gave the shot. she is eating drinking. i guess i need to keep her in but i did take her out and she walked and pecked around. she is tired and i know sore. the vet said she would have died if i hadnt have brought her. i wish i could keep her from laying any eggs for a week at least. she said it should be back in tomorrow. when she strains it comes out. how long do yall think i need to keep her inside? thanks for all the great advice and care. i know none of them were meant to be mean. they were my only options i knew that i guess thats why my heart was breaking.

Glad to hear it worked out without the need to cull and that it wasn't expensive! Is there any way you can do what was mentioned by another poster and keep her in a dark cage for a few days to rest and recover? If it's dark, she won't lay any eggs and will have time to heal.
