Today, one of our new layers laid her egg in the litter box we use as a wading pool for chickens. With the shells being porous, I assumed we shouldn't eat this egg. What do you think?

Thanks.

the egg should be absolutely fine to eat. there's a test to tell if an egg is rotten...put it in a cup of water and then if it floats it's good and if it sinks, it's bad. there is a membrane on the outside that doesn't let anything in. i'd eat it!

my ducks sometimes lay in the water, I dont eat them myself but feed them back to the chooks, just incase, why take the chance when eggs come everyday and your girls will love the treat so it doesnt go to waste
