I love having my 4 BBB turkeys around but I just raised them for they're meat. So next year I'm thinking about getting Turkeys for laying ( thats my excuse, I just really want to keep the turkeys). I've heard that if you keep some meat breeds( like BBB or BBW) too long they have heat attacks or become too fat to do anything. So is this true and if it is what breeds should I use for egglaying? They will be free range at 2 months and raised around geese, ducks, chickens. Thanks

Any heritage breed will lay you eggs. So will broad breasted if you don't let them get to big.

Heritage hens can avg. 60 to 80 eggs a season if they don't go broody. Byt my hens can go broody at the drop of a hat.

I've had blue slate. Bourbon reds. Royal palms.

All lay good.
