Egg Laying Increasing

WE started with about 6 eggs aday at Thanksgiving and we are now up to 12 a day. { Constantly about 9 a day} Chickens are just starting to lay as they are about 25 to 26 weeks. Can not wait untill spring when they are all laying.

My Yellow Orp laid her first egg today, even though her comb is small, it hasn't grown at all since June when I got her and she was 10 weeks then. But she sat on the nest today and had a nice little egg. I have one more to go a RIR whose comb has gotten really big. She likes to sit in the box but doesn't lay yet. Yippee,. 6 eggs today!!!

I was getting 0 then went to 3-4 to 5-7 a day out of 13....now they've slacked off big time...again I've gotten 3 eggs total in 3 days. Maybe it's the temps at night....in the 20's.

Mine were going through a bit of a molt in the beginning of November and now they've definitely picked back up. I've been getting anywhere from 9-15 eggs a day out of 22 hens, apparently 15 are laying. The other seven.....???? I am definitely going to be getting rid of the 3 polish (7 mos old) as they've yet to produce anything, so that leaves a couple of RIR, and 2 EE's.

My egg numbers shot up after the big snowstorm came through. I guess they were laying out in the forest. Now that they can't get out there they have to lay in the coop.
The number went back down yesterday. I think it's stress from being cooped up.

mine are also increasing, but I thought it was because more are "coming of age"

Most of my hens are 28 weeks, (I have 29 approximately at this age) I have 2 hens that are 38 weeks that have been laying for a while.
I currentlly getting between 19-22 eggs/day.

OK I'm sorry but I just have to brag up my girls. 951 since Labor Day from 10 sex link Golden Comets. It has varied from 8-11 per day but 10 is by far the norm. I thought for sure their prolific laying with winter setting in would drop off but it hasn't. The only things I've done for winter was go to the deep litter method, add a water warmer, and a morning light for an hour and a half. Their coop is very tight a little too tight for summer but that will rectified this spring. The largest egg I ever got was 2.778" by 2.039"

It blew my mind. I was surprised was only a double yoker. I got a highly coveted and never seen before triple yoker just the other day. I have to give them almost all the credit but it does make me think that I must be doing something right. I don't spoil them and I don't pay much attention to them. OK I lied!

I have no light in my pen. Usually my chickens slow down/stop laying this time of year. For some reason , they are laying like crazy. An egg a day from all my laying age hens. All different kinds of chickens too. Orpington, RIR, Barred Rock, Leghorn, Polish, Crevecoeur. Oh, and my d'Uccle started laying too....One of them is trying to go broody. What the? lol

Usually this is the time of year I worm, etc. Guess I have to wait.

I get at least a dozen eggs to 18 eggs a day from 18 hens. back in october I was getting 2-3 eggs a day from the same 18. what happened 2 them?
