Egg pipped last night, now nothing :( Is this a bad sign? FIRST HATCH

Billiejo - I am glad somebody doesn't think I am an awful chicken mum! Also I think that I am not breeding chickens to be super-hatchers. Yes, I may be going against nature saving one that wouldn't ordinarily make it, but I am not here to make sure nature takes it's course - I just want my baby! If it were a puppy nobody would be so against helping it out a little!

My first hatch, I had two slow chicks. I helped one out a little early, the other i went with "hands off" for a while longer. After one more day for the slowest one, I helped it out. The slowest one to hatch has curly toes. I had read that chicks that have to work TOO hard to get out, increase their metabolism and that makes their tendons and ligaments harden too quickly ( I read this days after the hatch) which causes curly toes. But, again, it is purely a personal decision whether or not to intervene. IMHO

BTW, congrats on the cuties!!
