egg shells as calcium source

Quote:
My chickens have always had plenty of calcium, the egg shells were baked and crushed very small and I still got egg eaters. I will not make this mistake again with egg shells. It is very upsetting to go get your eggs and have 5 or 6 of them eaten before you can even get them.

darn, i will use crushed oyster shells. chickens don't lay those.

I put all my empty shells in an empty ice cream bucket under my sink. When it's fully, I smash them up by pressing a drinking glass into them...then I sprinkle them outside in front of the barn area where the chickens look for their other treats. So far none of mine are egg eaters.
