egg shells or not

Good morning
I have heard I could add cooked and crumbled egg shells to my flocks diet as a calcium add. Is this a good idea?

Hi, I feed our Girls only their shells. I rinse & dry them ( if I'm baking I will put them in the oven). I have some ground into powder that I sprinkle on their fermented food & some just crumbled into bits in a little hanging bucket that are available 24/7 along with oyster shells.
