Egg Song! Egg Song! Egg Song!

I have one Black sex link laying for about a week and she does not sing an egg song. She does something like a hum/purr thing.

We've found eggs the last 3 days, for a total of 5 eggs, but I still haven't heard an egg-song. I'm excited to be getting eggs, but really wanted to hear a bGAWWK! out of the girls...

I'm pretty sure it's our RSL hens dropping breakfast, but hopefully the EE's and SLW join in soon.

I'm sorry, what is the egg song? I have 5 hens laying now and the only time i hear them is after they've laid an egg.

my girls egg song is soft and purring noises.. and they all coo to each other for encouragement it seems..they also sit with each other with wings over each other like hugging and saying it is ok sister it is almost over lol. i have a communal nest box so they all get in there together

That's my chicken's egg song.

It's also her the-cat-is-bothering-me-again-song, and it works very well to scare the cat away. He hates that noise.

And then it would give you a prize.

Well, if you remember that machine, it sounds pretty much exactly like a real chicken.

thanks! i think i might have seen that machine at the local feed store a while ago. i thought that was so cute how it went bawk bawk bawk baaaaaaawk! and then a prize popped out like an egg! and my grandmother said that when she had birds her birds did this: "look look look what i did" but more in bird bawk bawk like. i thought it was really neat that after her birds layed an egg they'd say look what i did!
