Egg Song! Egg Song! Egg Song!

although now that i look at the video, the first time they layed their eggs they did make that noise a couple times. do your birds do that after every time they lay their eggs? i'm just curious.

I had all three of them singing at once last weekend. It was late enough in the day for me not to worry about the neighbors too much so I got to just enjoy it.

Its great how their bGAWKS overlap.

Those of you with Buff Orphs, how old were they when they started laying? My 3 are 14 weeks old and I'm wondering how long I'll have to wait. My Cochin, that has been laying since May, suddenly stopped about 10 days ago, so we are only getting 1 egg every day or so, from my other 2 layers. I have 13 in all, of different ages, but the 8 I got at the feed store as babies are getting pretty big. I got a RIRed at the same time I got the 3 Big Girls, with the idea she would be laying within 2 months. I think she is about 23 weeks old now (or more) and still no eggs!

If the EE & Minorca decide to stop too, I'll have to go back to store-bought eggs, which was NOT the point of having 13 chickens and spending 2 months in the heat building the Ft. Knox of chicken pens. Hubby is beginning to loose interest, just when he was reallly beginning to enjoy getting 2 or 3 eggs a day. Could it be the excessive heat? (over 53 days of over 100 this summer), or adding Oyster Shell to the diet 2 weeks ago? Any suggestions? To add insult to injury, I think 2 of my 8 "pullets" from the feed store look like they may be Roo's!

My grandson is almost 16 months old and he knows the egg song! He sings it to get them to come running and he says chickens! He tries to crow as well...maybe we can record this coming weekend!

I was woken up at 7:15AM by my 24 week old pullets' egg song this morning. HOLY CRAP was is loud!! I would trade anyday for the purring soft egg song... how would it be??? It could be a big problem with my neighbors.

Tonight I closed the door on the coop for the first time this summer so I can keep them in until after egg time tomorrow. This is the kind of stuff that noise ordainance complaints are made out of!!

I have been pacing the floors for a long time now and finally today I found one egg! I never saw or heard any signs of them being ready but am glad to finally find an egg!

My hens are 20 weeks old by the way.
