I have four 19 week old girls and I'm anxiously awaiting my first egg. 2 of them have very red combs and have for weeks. No egg song or squatting I guess I'm gonna be waiting awhile.

I just heard Ida's song and think I have the perfect way to describe her's. Unfortunately it's going to date me, but oh, well! Some of you might remember this........remember the song "Surrey with the Fringe on Top"? It was from the musicial "Oklahoma". The opening line of that song is what Ida's singing! "Chicks and ducks and geese gonna scurry, when I take ya out in the surrey......"

It can be repeated once or 5 times, there's no tellin'. I wonder what the most times a hen has sang an egg song after laying an egg?

I never heard that song before so I had to go find it. The cadence (is that the right word?) of that line in the song does sound like the egg song
