Egg Song! Glorious Egg Song!

I talk to my girls too. In fact, my hubby was laughing at me the other night. He was outside the coop while I was closing it up for the night. The chickens still bonk each other trying to get the top perch. They squawk and nip while they do this. My husband said he could hear me talking to them, quietly, "Hey, stop that. Be nice to each other. Be nice." Later he asked me "Do you really think they will listen to you? They're chickens!" LOL

How funny, I sit and talk to my girls all the time!!! They eat out of my hand, when I go out I start with Good morning girls and they all start bawking...Like as to say good morning what yummy treat do you have for us today!! I have had them now for 4 weeks and they are now trying to follow me out of the run, so I told them this evening I will let them out to explore!!
Quick question for the seasoned chicken ppl here...How long to let a 50lb bag of feed stay around?? I have had this one 4 weeks and its still 1/4 left...should I toss it and buy a Fresh new bag?? They dont seem to be to interested in it unless I am just not seeing them eating it....
I always buy my feed in 25 lb. sacks...saves the headache of spoiled old feed. The reason they might not seem interested in it could very well be this hot weather we're all having right now. Plus the fact that you and I both are more than likely spoiling our girls with too many treats...eek!!

I was afraid of spoiling them to much with treats so I limit my self

...they only get treats in the early morning and then just a hand full of meal worms or scratch before bed...So I am thinking the feed maybe starting to spoil so I will make a trip to the feed store...I would rather toss it then make them sick!!!

think I gotta wait another couple weeks from what I am reading!!!

I love the videos! I was going to take my cellphone out this morning and try to get a video. Mine were singing up a storm out there. You would think all of them were laying eggs at the same time but only 4 did, so far. The others wanted to serenade them. Haha!

I didn't want to toss my feed, too expensive, so I bought one of those Rubbermaid large containers with a lid. It stays airtight and fresher. I do this for my cat's dry food and it stays fresh.
