hahahaha yes , WE HAD 2 HENS LIKE THAT we rescued them from a
cruel situation in FLA, I saw them in tiny cages by the side of the road & left out in the hot fla summer sun , after i spotted those 2 red hens, i had no Idea what kind..? they were not very big but not banties either, so we pulled the car over as fast as we could and i ran into this make shift feed store were the 2 hens were set out in metal cages by the side of the road , gosh they could not even turn around and were made to stand like that on the hot metal of those cages , & i bet they were burned..? they had no food or water for that entire day in the sun, so i paid top price for them to save them from such horrible treatment , and took them home in a card board box , we name them Thelma & Louise after a movie we saw about 2 woman escaping from a bad situation, so we built them a cute little house right away and set it in our garden in the shade area, i gave them food water & kept them in for 2 days & then let them out one evening just before sun down they went right back into their home as the sun went down , but by the next day they were free to go out every day after that , then one day Louise was missing i had no idea were she could be, and she was gone for a wile, i hoped she was not dead, then one very early morning i saw Louise eating with Thelma and i went to go see, but when i got out side , she was gone again.....lol....then a wile later , my hubby was working on our motor coach & he went to go put the batteries on charge, and he found Louise sitting on a giant pile of eggs in the battery compartment of the coach, all those eggs was like a
pyramid made of eggs & soooo many eggs it was amazing , all those eggs were way bigger then Louise by far ,so we took pictures of her sitting at the very top of all that stash of eggs, they must have been over a month old....lol. .. good thing they didn't brake & smell up the motor coach.....lol........lol.... i have those pic's here some place packed away ..? when i find them i will post them
....lol... so we tossed all those eggs away, and in a day or so we found that both hens had gone broody sitting in their house , so i decided to be nice to those old girls and give them each a chance to have a family , i called a friend and asked if they had any
fertile eggs, they didn't need, yes & their chickens had came from Bush Gardens & were some kind of exotic birds, but chickens in any case....lol.. that was fine with me, so we got 2 free
fertile eggs one for each girl, and as they sat side by side inside their little house i checked on them every day and left food & water & treats out for them near by, so in time , they each had the tiniest chicks I had ever seen, they were sooo small they could fit in a shot glass & still have room....lol... one was a black male & the other a yellow female....lol... Thelma & Louise love them dearly , and were great mothers , so by the end of that summer , we had a bunch of chickens , i have no idea what kind ... ??
half was the Heinz 57 variety .....lol... & the other half was a mystery.....lol... but we had eggs all the time small eggs , but always a good supply of eggs....!! & a bunch of very colorful chickens .....lol.....
