We have 6 hens and I believe 2 have started to lay. We heard the egg song once from our BO after I checked the hen box and found an egg she started the song. We don't think she laid the egg or has even started to lay. Her comb is still pink and small and no squatting from her. My question is will a hen sing the song after another hen lays? :/

Not always. They sing when they want to!

The egg song sound is also an alarm call. It has a higher intensity, but it's the same sound. So if she was startled, she could have been warning the others.

I was outside raking leaves yesterday and heard all of my chickens in one of my coops singing the song...LOUDLY. To me, (waiting imapatiently for them to lay!) It was a chicken version of Hallelujah!
None of them have stated laying yet though it should be anyday . I rushed to check the nesting boxes, no egg. They went on for about 5 min, then went about business as usual :)
I have 3 Light Brahmas in another coop, and 2 are laying. When they lay an egg, I have one EE in the other coop that will sing the song with the Light Brahma.
So I have quickly figured out, there is no rhyme or reason to the egg song! :)
