Egg too small, duckling pipped, struggling to breathe, no noise, day 28 - pic attached

He's still in there but I think the veins are dried up. If he doesn't push out soon I'm going to start taking him out. Slowly. Lol
I got little ducks for the tub. The babies loved playing with them at bath time
I had no idea ducks liked toys till reading it on here
I love this!!! I toss fish and worms onto their pools, but never thought about river duckies

You can pull a bit more shell from above his head if the veins are gone then gently move the membrane and he should push out himself

Thanks! I just got home and the bathroom is streaming up. I'm afraid he'll have goo on him so I don't want him to get dry until he's clean

The veins still look link, but they are empty. When I see a Q-tips under it they are flat

I got him out, but left him in the bottom of the shell. He still has yolk to absorb. This is day 30. How can that be? No doubt about the date. I write it on the eggs.

The membrane was only stuck to him at one edge on the bottom. It came apart pretty easily. Also, no blood!! I was very worried about that

I put him in a cup, keeping his bum in the bottom of the shell. Here are pictures. His foot was on top of his head, so one foot is out too

The same thing happened to one of mine,he was not fully absorbed, but I pulled him out after seeing the veins disappear and he survived!good luck with yours!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you're duckling survived 🙂 I'm hoping this little fella will too 😉. Just come a long way. Just needs to finish the race

If the incubator temperature is a little low, the babies can develop more slowly, and hatch late.

Or this particular one might just be a slowpoke.

If your other ones are also slow to hatch, you might want to raise the temperature in the incubator by a little bit (maybe one degree or even half a degree.)

I'm wondering what the humidity should be at now. I have the temperature at 99 and the humidity at75%. Should humidity be lower now?
I don't know for sure, but I would guess that humidity is fine, and I would guess that lower humidity would also be fine.

What I'm basing those guesses on:

During hatch, the humidity needs to be high so the membranes do not dry out and the duckling does not stick to the shell.

The usual advice is to leave newly-hatched chicks & ducklings in the incubator until they dry out and fluff up. I've never seen a mention of adjusting the humidity at that point, so they presumably do dry out even at hatching-level humidity.

Directions for brooding baby chicks or ducklings do not worry about controlling humidity. So once the duckling is completely out of his shell, I would assume any humidity level is fine.
