I don't sell my eggs. I just give the extras to friends, but I think having a variety of colors makes your egg cartons look more appealing. I have 2 easter eggers and a leghorn with 9 brown egg layers and I think the white and blue/green eggs really make a difference in the appearance of your carton. Not sure how more value it would add, but people seem to really like it.

I have 5 Ameraucana's in our flock....none laying yet and I am so so so excited to see what color our eggs from those gals will be! So exciting! I am getting about 35 eggs a day! Flock is 50 hens!

This is how I "package" mine. I like using a "Free Range" stamp on my white eggs because not many in my area have organic/free range WHITE eggs....this shredded crinkle paper is from the dollar store, I use very little to spruce up the carton! I love people's expression when they peek in the carton! They are so pleasantly surprised and that is my "pay off" I love to bring joy through eggs! It's the most magical activity I have ever engaged in! Good Luck with yours!!

I like it! The stamp and the crinkle paper really do make a difference.

My older girls are all molting right now, so I'm not getting any blue or green eggs. They really do make a difference though!

We have a label with our farm name and city/state and hot pink cartons. Those were my fiance's doing, I wasn't sure but it catches attention and we get a lot of return cartons that way. We've branded and built out way to needing 50+ cluckers to lay us eggs. We are looking to expand some more in the spring when we hopefully have our own place.

We currently have brown eggs only. I was thinking of adding white eggs as we've had some requests. Also possibly a couple Marans to get a richer brown egg. We live in a very rural area so commanding higher prices is difficult but we nab alot of touristy types and then have some diehards in winter. We sell for $3.00 a dozen at markets. Discounts for our regulars and return cartons. I'd like to bump to $3.25 next year to increase our margin. It's nice when something you like makes money

Selling eggs are so much fun. In So Cal eggs can go for $8/dozen in sprouts, that's the high end. In Target and the like, eggs go for $6-$7. Plus, you have to be CERTIFIED to use the fancy terms like free range and organic. I use "Naturally Raised & Hand Gathered" I verbally tell people that i only give organic feed and tell them i free range. They know me and know this is true. Plus, my label says laid by Fluffy and Cutie, so they even know who laid the eggs. (My flock is 2 chickens...lol.) I sell half a dozen for $4.00. So, yes, $8/dozen. My eggs are pinkish, cream-ish and people love them.

what ink do you use? We do wash our eggs and refrigerate. The condensation was wiping off/smearing our stamp. it looked gross. i stopped but love the way it looks. so personal.

It is a food safe ink. My eggs are not refrigerated so no condensation happens. I understand though and I think the only solution is using an impermeable ink and that is not a good idea due to chemicals....so, yes, the smear could be an issue I do agree!!
