will i need to help the one with the hole hatch or not. i hope not. i mean i can but i hope i don't have to.

I wouldn't put water in the air cell because when water and heat combine to make a moist heated environment bacteria can start to grow. After the bacteria starts to grow it can puncture the air cell and cause the chick to be either infected with bacteria which can affect the chick in the early stages. If the egg isn't infected it is prone to infection, which can affect the chick when it gets older. It can cause problems for the chick internally and externally.

Did I also mention that tampering with the egg for long periods of time can rattle the egg and cause damage. Sorry if my post sounds like a know it all attitude but I have learned from some of the best chicken raisers. Thanks for understanding peepsthebrassy, also thanks for posting status on your chicks.

Leave it be for now.

What day/time did you set them? What breed or cross?
i set them on day 2/19/15 and 2/2015 and one is red and black Cochin/black breasted red mix the other is columbian wyandotte/red and black Cochin mix. i put them in the incubator at around 4:30. i guess.

So today is just day 21 for your first one. Dont be alarmed if it takes another day or two. Patience is difficult at this stage, but please try! Watch through the window as much as you want, pace the floor, etc. We all do it! Well, many of us, I feel sure. We are here to help you pass the time!

How has your temperature been throughout the whole process, and your humidity?
