Hello-

One of my buff orphingtons was getting picked on and then we believe she started over preening. Between the 2 she ended up with a bald patch on her back. Took her to our local vet that confirmed it was not mites or lice but was concerned she was in pain and could get a skin infection. She was started on an antibiotic and meloxicam.

Anyone know how long we should not eat her eggs for?

Sulfonamide antibiotics are not approved for poultry, as most antibiotics and drugs. However, they may be used for certain things off label. If you look up drug residue studies for sulfas, the egg withdrawal may be 10 days to 43 days depending on the study or source. I would try to identify her eggs, and wait at least 3 weeks to 1 month, but there is no official egg withdrawal for most antibiotics. Here is one study that says 43 days:

You can contact FARAD. org for more info. They are the ones who determine what drugs are permitted in chickens.
