antibiotics take a couple days. Give it time and make sure to finish the whole 10 days to prevent antibiotic resistance.

I'm not certain on the egg binding one, i think that's what it was because I thought I felt something hard like an egg, but it's possible it could have been something else. I'm almost positive on my girl in February, because I had taken her to the vet before she passed, and was told she had a prolapse. The vet said her uterus was protruding out of her vent.

Update on my Buff Orpington, Sunny: her appetite hasn't improved and she still hasn't really eaten anything the past several days. She's still in our bathroom where it's warm, but she still lays down and doesn't move much. She is still alert and isn't closing her eyes though. My mom said she had a very large, egg white textured poop.

Mucous. It could mean lots of things, but generally something in her intestines is irritating them. It could be bacteria or it could be tumors.

Give the antibiotic time. Have you tried offering her boiled chopped egg? Have you got vitamins for her? Poultry Nutri-drench could get some much needed nutrients directly into her blood stream where they're immediately needed.

I'm going to try boiled chopped egg and more tuna tonight. I took her outside for a bit and she was digging around and pecking in the dirt. Still movingly slower than normal, but she was at least moving and walking around. She had two very large eggy poops that I'm going to post pictures of. You aren't sounding too worried about EYP or internal laying and I'm wondering why? Is she not showing the symptoms of it? I'm hoping that's not what it is.

Internal laying would like have yellow eggy matter in the mix. This poop is typical of a sick hen, but not one that's starving, which is encouraging.

Keep encouraging her to eat. And if you can, get some vitamins into her. Do you have tofu? Sometimes a sick hen will eat tofu when nothing else looks appealing to them. I crumble it up. It's a big hit with sick baby chicks, too. Have you remembered to offer her some grit? We often overlook that when we have a chicken in sick bay.

That's good to know! I tried chopped op boiled egg and she pecked at a couple pieces but didn't really eat it. I haven't tried grit, but I will tomorrow. I'll also try tofu. I'm going to go to our local feed store and get some mealworms, and I'll see about getting some vitamins. What brand?

Great! Poultry Nutri-drench is the brand I recommend.

Cool! And how will I give it to her? Is it another pill?

It's a syrupy liquid. You can mix it into her drinking water or you can eye dropper it into the side of her beak. The ratio of Drench to water is 1/4 teaspoon to one quart water. The eye dropper that comes in the bottle is pre-measured for an adult chicken dose which is once a day. You may also sprinkle it over tofu or tuna like a sundae topping.

I'm afraid she won't get enough if it's in her food or water. I don't know how much she's drinking, but I know she hasn't really eaten a full sized bite in several days. I'm hoping the antibiotics will really kick in tomorrow and she'll start feeling better.
