Yes, yes I do take pictures of my eggs. um er THEIR eggs. LOL
Big ones, small ones, first ones, blue ones, mis-shapen ones.......lots of egg pics.
Im pretty sure there is a medical term for my illness.

Hmm, that sounds like the same illness that I have.

Today I got 2 chicken sized eggs and 1 duck sized. What do you do with your eggs? They're all duck, right?

Congrats Debs Flock on your girls laying & LadyIsadora being able to enjoy yours again! I think what you guys have is contagious... Its called Obsessive Eggalovitis Disorder & I'm pretty sure I have it now too.

Its been over a month since Mako laid her 1st egg, but its been way too hot here to turn on the stove (cold cereal for breakfast, lunch & dinner anyone?) It finally cooled down a bit this week & the first thing we did was fry up some duck eggs for breakfast. I'm surprised how similar they are to chicken eggs. I admit I haven't eaten chicken eggs in a couple months either, so maybe I forgot what they taste like, but the only difference I noticed was that the shells are a lot harder & the whites are a bit thicker. What differences have you guys noticed between duck & chicken eggs?

Well, probably due to my disorder, I've been feeling protective of the eggs my girls gift me. (Maybe I'm going broody??) So...I've given a lot away and I made brownies with some duck eggs. The definitely seemed a bit more rich & moist than when I use chicken eggs. I'm not ready to eat any that strongly resemble true "egg" form.

Im so happy your Mako is laying! Cold days are upon us here. I have been canning outside because it is still too hot to do it in the house. Now I feel that it is most convenient as it frees up kitchen space for preperation.
I find that in addition to the white being thicker the yolk stands taller and is also thicker. I love over easy eggs. We used to call them "Dippy Eggs" when I was little. So called because you dip your toast in the yolk & slurp up the goodness. It made it very hard to order breakfast at a restaurant when I got older. It seems no one else knew how to cook a Dippy Egg. Anyway, The Duck egg yolk sticks to that toast like custard. It is harder to clean the smears off the plate too. Dont let that sit unwashed in the sink. Now I lick the plate clean. Just kidding. But the yolk is thick creamy goodness I enjoy immensely.
The shells on mine are much thicker than any chicken egg I have experienced. I have to be very careful to be able to break through the shell without breaking the yolk. I remember cracking eggs with a butter knife when I was younger for that same reason.

One of my ducks just laid the biggest egg! Im waiting for my neighbor to wake up so I can take it over to her house to weigh it. She has a postal scale that should do the job. I was so proud of her huge eggs in the past that I blew the yummy stuff out and saved the shell. This one is significantly bigger than the biggest one we have had to date.
Didnt someone earlier on this thread say something about being able to use their duck as a hand puppet? yeah I can see that. WOW. Im so proud.

You're right, the yolks are thicker & harder to get off the plate. I've been eating them most of the week (making up for lost time) & I think they're a little richer too. The other day my youngest ordered "fried chicken eggs" for breakfast. I knew what she meant, but it just sounded so weird, like something we'd get from KFC.
