Eggbarassin' Question...

ok....I did it....I googled TOAD IN A HOLE...

IT is english in origin...a loaf of unrisen dough with an egg an sausage put in the well of the bread...baked in the oven.

Well thank goodness! I was starting to think my family was nuts calling something "toad-in-a-hole" all these years.

Not only do your own eggs taste better they look different. The yoke is a much darker and brighter color.

Bantam eggs are very tasty. The only thing is because it takes more of them to cook with you have to keep more hens.

If anything, I'm tickled pink that a few of you who hadn't heard of it before tried it with successful results!

And on the 'why save the hole' question, all of the responders were great with their reasons. My DH saves his hole for the yolk (yuck - I'm not a yolk fan unless it's been scrambled or cooked well done) and I save my hole for for the extra bread.
