I started out with 7 hens 3 years ago, and have lost 3 of them so far. I have one that is sick right now and looks like she is egg-bound. Are there any good suggestions for helping an egg-bound hen to recover? She is a 3 year old Americauna. I just lost another hen almost 3 weeks ago. I think that one died from heat stroke maybe. I also think one of my others died last year from being egg-bound. I soaked her a couple of times and tried to find the egg that was stuck, but never found it.
This Americauna usually lays shell-less eggs. Most of her eggs are membrane with the yolk inside. A couple of days ago, she laid a good egg. But I think she may have laid just the insides of the egg without the membrane the next day. I am wondering if some of that egg is still inside her. Any help will be appreciated.
