Well, in my experience w/ broody it depends on age, breeds and individual hens. I got a year old leghorn that went broody and it took me almost a week to break her of it and within 3 wks she's back on laying. Now I had a Black Australorps that went broody very young, @22 wks after a month of laying cluster of eggs. I couldn't break her for weeks, then she went molting and took couple of months before going back to laying. Go figure! Each hens are case to case basis I guess.
