I think mine is an ordinary looking Dominique, but since she's the only one I have, what would I know? I've had people say mine is a barred rock, but then other people say she isn't. I ordered a Dom, but what does that mean, really?

Barred rocks have a single comb where doms have a rose comb. That is the first way to tell, I am sure there are other ways, but look at the comb and that will tell you.

Geez, that's what I get for buying before I am well informed. So tell, are SLW good egg producers? Does she look close to be ready for laying?

It's so hard to say when pullets are ready to lay eggs. Mine hatched March 23rd this year and nothing yet, one of my BR's layed her first egg at 16 weeks which is really early but I know for sure when she hatched and I know she is laying too. I have 3 SLW's and none of them are laying and they hatched March 23rd too. I heard they start around 6 months but sometimes it can take over a year.
