Eggs are here :)Paganbirds and MagsC's hatching thread!!UpdateMarch16!

Okay... so I had to check one more time before going to bed.

I went down to check the 'bator. No more pips than earlier... but... my little fav was zipping!
It took about 10 minutes, but I have a chick! Hooray!

I'll get pics in the am when s/he's all fluffed up. Hopefully that one will be my cheerleader & I'll get some pips before I wake up.

One lonely chick peeping in the hatching tray.

Not another pip yet.
I know the eggs were all alive when I put them in. 8 of the S/S had movement & both SF were moving.
Well, PO called at 8am. My box is here! I have to take care of the horses, then into town to pick up my eggs. I have one more set of eggs being shipped to me Monday... then I'm done until summer.
Tonight I'll clean out the 'bator as best I can with eggs in it & set the new ones in the morning.

I candled the remaining 10 eggs... they seem to still be alive. I definitely saw movement in a few. I'm not sure why this hatch is taking so long, but I'm not giving up yet.
I can't get to the PO until my DH plows the driveway. There's just too much snow!

Yay on the SF chick!!!!

I hope you get some more pips and hatching today.
Me, its been a very slow, uneventful day.

Well, MagsC, only 3 more days 'till lockdown on the CrescentWood (mine) eggs!
Although I am disturbed that I'm on day #23 & still have no more pips, I'm determined not to interfere.
I did open the door momentarily to shine the light on the tops of the remaining eggs, but the shells were all intact & the humidity didn't drop significantly. I will not be helping any out of the shell. Last time I helped, I don't think the chicks were meant to hatch. I ended up with one deformed chick & another died after an hour or so.
Since I've had issues with this incubation, I'll just let them be. If they hatch... great. If they don't... I'll set more this week.
I will Never, EVER set dirty shipped eggs again. I don't care what breed they are. If the seller doesn't send clean eggs, then I don't want any of their birds anyway.

I understand that!!! Why would you want to risk eggs because someone couldnt clean theirs (I dont mean scrubbing them to death but reasonably cleaning them off without removing the bloom)
I can only recall a couple of times that I have helped a egg out and it WASNT deformed or weak or something so I agree with not interfering, its usually more heartache in the end.
Off to turn my eggs. Putting the other eggs from chickenlittle32 in tonight.

I have successfully helped a hatch before, but it was my fault the chicks were stuck. My humidity dropped & the chicks were stuck. I helped out & they were fine.
This hatch, though, temps & humidity are fine... if they don't hatch, they just weren't meant to.
