The runt is doing great today. I had to untape her feet... she kept falling over. Now she's up & around with the other two.
She's very tiny, though. She's only about 2/3 the size of the other silkie. I will have to tape her feet again, but right now she needs to be able to get to feed & water... not tip over.
So, did you set all 24 eggs in lockdown? Or did you lose any?
I have a cracked egg in there - patched with wax. I also have the one egg that made it from the yucky bunch.
Oh, yeah, did I mention I bought more eggs?
LOL!
I know I'm supposed to be turning off the 'bator so I can get my 2010 testing done, but I couldn't resist. I wanted some BLRW chicks & I couldn't wait 'til summer. Hopefully they get here this week. They are from an NPIP tested flock... the Pa Dept of Ag will be happy with that.

They couldn't expect me to quit cold-turkey, could they?
LOL!

I set the first batch of eggs from you and the 10 I got from sonew123 into lockdown. There werent any stinkers or ones I could absolutely tell were clear, so I will just see what I get.

LOL, I wasnt going to buy any more chicken eggs until I hatched out the pre-sales but I couldnt resist bidding on some mixed banty eggs(Old English). I won.

Slap my hands and tell me not to check out auctions or buy it nows!!!
After this first hatch, I have to change incubators around a little bit. I havent had as much time as I would like to mess with the browers but once I get the big one going, that will solve a lot of space issues for sure!!

I am thinking about buying some more mixed type eggs somewhere and doing a test run in the 50 egg brower. The ones I have received I didnt want to take chances with, lol.
BLRW eggs!!!!! I am jealous!!!!!!

I dont know when my pilgrim geese, blue bibbed call duck, chocolate pheasant or peacock eggs exactly will arrive, sometime in the spring or even early summer, I imagine. I still need to pay for my blue scaled quail eggs this week.
I am glad the runt is doing good!!!

Now I have to go offline to go shovel snow again. Oh joy.

So much for lockdown!
I went to go check the 'bator. I wanted to make sure the humidity was right. It was very NOT-RIGHT.
Not right at all.
The tube that runs the water into the 'bator had come disconnected... there was water dripping down the front of the 'bator onto my eggs!
ACK!!!

So I unplug the 'bator & grab some papertowls and... open it up.
Water came pouring out at me and onto the floor.

I mopped up the mess in the 'bator - the floor would have to wait. I fixed the water tube. Then, I went to the eggs. I had set them in cardboard/paper egg trays. One of the trays was soaked. There was actually water pooled in the sides of the trays. I had to rearrange the eggs and put them back in. I don't think it took to long. I highly doubt that I dropped the humidty too much by opening the door - they were surrounded by humidity (in the form of wet trays) the whole time.
I have had enough of the hatching stress. AAAHHHHHHHHGGGGHHHHH!

It hadn't been leaking long... maybe 10 minutes.
When will something go right for once?
I better get an awesome hatch this time. And next time for the duck hatch. And for the SF hatch. And the BLRW hatch. Because I won't get to hatch any more unitl summer - if I can just stop hatching now!

Paganbird, I am sure your hatch will go just fine.

But whew!!! I completely understand about the hatching stress!! Seems like I HAVE to check the temps humidity every time I go by the incubators.

sonew123, well, I HOPE for 10 grandchildren for you!! I havent ever had a 100 percent on shipped eggs but its something to strive for.
