I have made a safe hole in all of the remaining ones. I can't see any movement in a couple of them, but I can see blood vessels. A Pekin has made his hole a little bigger, so maybe he'll get out.

How are the kids looking today? When I left them, three pekins we're pecking or chirping. I don't think the cayugas are going to hatch. I guess I'll find out in the morning. The first pekin is a little rascal. So much personality! He didn't want me nearly as much when the other pekin and the two mallards joined him. I'll get some sleep tonight!![]()
So they are out of the shell?I may have goofed... There was very little change from yesterday, so I took some warm water and put it on the membrane with my fingers. They were both active, but seemed to be stuck, The membrane was pretty dry. I helped one get almost all of the way out. I noticed that there was one tiny blood vessel still attached to the yolk sack. I was afraid that I had killed him. He wiggled away and broke the connection.
So, both are out, and very noisy. Two hours later, they're still kicking.
How many more left?Yes, they're out.
