Eggs are not moving.... Lockdown Day 20

60-64humidity you should not see moisture build up on glass
Ok, I’ll def try that. Like I said, I had it at 65 and it shot up to the 70s when the first chick pipped...
Hope I have better luck in the future. The chick is warm and very, very tired. I hope he makes it. I’m guessing that’s what’s considered shrink wrapping??? Did that happen when I finally opened the lid? He was having trouble zipping so I’m thinking he was like that for a while. I could see through his lil pip hole that he had a membrane blanket covering his eyes so that’s when I decided to assist. I thought high humidity prevented that from happening and if you left lid on it wouldn’t happen.
Some people say 60s is good, some day too high. On so many reputable websites and BYC articles they say 60s to 70s. Manufactor’s recommendations as well. It’s all very confusing but I obviously did something wrong. Hope my next hatches go better.

I would not worry about shrink wrapping. you have the membrane off the chick, in the pic. just let it digest the veins, and your other chicks, should stay in shell. resting is good.

Set your humidity to 50s next time... When pips start it increases the humidity too high, its a problem I had too. When you have condensation in the bator it's 80+ in it usually, which is too high. You're doing great!

Your hygrometer must be broke. When my chicks pip the humidity doesn't raise that much. You are saying the humidity is up to 70, is way to high. Shrink wrapped is dry leather you are the opposite.

My chick seems to be doing very well. He’s lonely though. I hope someone else hatches and I hope it’s a better hatch. I’m still confused about all that. Why was he wrapped in a membrane cocoon like that? The white layer under the shell was paper like once I started to remove it because I had it out in the air but this seemed to be another membrane layer. Is that normally how they are and they break free of it naturally? I hope I didn’t jeopardize the other two eggs in the incubator when I opened the lid a bunch of times last night. I could hear peeping coming from one of the eggs but no obvious external pips.

Put a mirror and maybe a small stuffed animal in with the chick, one thing that might work too if you have one of those plastic toys from the dollar store that moves if in the light, these are nice they like movement.

* sorry about the the extra pic I tried erasing they just made it smaller.

Yes, there are a couple different layers of membrane.

Is the first chick in bator?
I leave them in there to encourage the others.
