I have only about 12 pullets that are laying through the winter and 3 roosters are free ranging with them. I've seen all three roos mate a couple of them. I cracked two eggs open today and before frying them I checked if they were fertile or not...NOPE!
Any ideas or anything? Does winter affect the roosters fertility like it affects the hens laying?

Wait were you expecting g to see a chick? The eggs would have to be incubated by the hen or in an incubator in order to for a chick to develop...

Or were you egg-specting

I believe the details being requested were what basis you were using (such as your noted examination of the bastodisc) to determine fertility/infertility -- you knew what method you used, but we did not from reading your post.
