ALRIGHT.
I've had my black australorps for precisely 6 months and 20 days. can you guess how many eggs I've gotten? the holy number of 0.
one of my hens has gone blind in one eye and she is the only one that squats, although i do not know if it may be just because she does it as a defense for her blind side. i am starting to get worried though. 6 and a half months?! will they ever lay?!

Depending where you live, unfortunately, you may be waiting until spring for eggs at this point.

They will lay. I know it's easy to get impatient because of all of the care that goes into them even before the eggs come.

You are not alone in your frustration. Many new chicken owners that got their chicks later in the spring are also asking that question right now.

If they don't lay during the winter season, they should definitely start up when daylight hours become prime. When pullets start to lay has everything to do with their hormonal cycle, and shortened daylight hours play a big factor in pullets not getting started.

My own nearly 2 year old Orps take a break in laying to molt in mid-autumn, and don't resume laying regularly until well after the winter solstice. They don't have the excuse of being pullets, they just conserve a lot of energy in winter.
