Eggs hatching with low humidity

Quail chicks need high protein about 26-30% protein and laying females need layer feed.

So for quail chicks use game bird feed non medicated with 26 to 30% protein and for laying girls use game bird feed non medicated with a lower protein but still over 20%.

I don't know much about meat birds but I do know they aren't meant to live longer than a few months - perhaps meat bird feed doesn't include nurtients for longevity?

The low protein food could very well be the answer to your high mortality and maybe even attributed to the passing of the recently hatched chick.

I've said before, it seems there is a thread started every other week by someone who's quail are mysteriously dying and it turns out to be inappropriate feed.

if you fix the feed hopefully you shouldn't have any more deaths from it :)

I will get her some layer food. What kind would you recommend for quail? I was on a mateience food but I got a different kind of food because they were always skinny it only had 12% protein. Now I have been getting sprout meat maker it has 21% protein. They seem to be better.

You can also feed cooked egg as a protein boost, and sprouted alfalfa seeds are another good source of protein. You could give these as treats a few times a week.

Where are you located? There's a TSC in another city about 20 minutes away from me where I get my wood shavings but I use a different feed store, maybe there's a different one near you? :)
