I think she might mean the day old guinea chicks but if I am wrong and you guys are talking about eggs Krista is totally right if you ship developed eggs none will hatch.

Would you be willing to ship day-old chicks? I'd really like to have a few guineas. We had them when I was a kid (that is, until the redneck neighbors shot my mother's favorite hen because it had eaten - according to them - 50 quarts of strawberries!) I would pay for the chicks as well as all the shipping costs, including those heating pad things to keep their little fuzzy butts warm. Let me know!

I read you should put the eggs in the freezer before destroying them. This will kill the embryo faster then just letting them cool. Good luck with whatever you decide.

but I figured chicks might be too expensive to ship

(of course I never mailed them so they may not be expensive at all)

WOW - thank you for all the responses... its been helping

I would be more then happy to try shipping the keets if there is definite interest. I will research how to ship out.. costs etc.. let me know if interested in them.. If I have enough then I will continue to incubate..

Eating them is a possibility.. although I admit I am not in favor of doing it ourselves.. I know you can but I just don't want to get into that.. I'm reading more about that here..just not ready for that yet

fyrwmn...where in CT are you...i live in mass..i'd buy a few chicks off you...can they go in a coop with regular chickens?...Wendy

I would hatch them. You seem to have interest for chicks here, or take them to the auction. Good luck with whatever you do.

I was at the auction the other day wondering if people ate guineas-I thought they must. Now I know!

HI Wendy

Yep they do very well with chickens.. in fact I have 4, five week old keets that were put in with 4 chickens of the same age...so cute- they all hang out all day together- like a little gang.. then at night they all go into the coop together..adult guineas, chickens and the babies

I live in SE CT... I do travel around the state on occasion ( I work Per diam as a nurse.. so I travel alot doing flu clinics etc) .. I can deliver if needed ( Or meet you somewhere)-- just a thought...

Pm or email me if interested

Linda

I might be mistaken, but I think you have to have a business license and all kinds of paperwork to ship live chicks through the postal service. I think my dh looked into it and the amount of work for one or two shipments a year was prohibitive. You should still call and ask, I may have dreamed it and have no clue what I'm talking about.
