So i was going to just get a couple of eggs to incubate to try and replace some chickens lost this year. I wanted 7 eggs, I ended up with 20. So I made a homemade incubator to do this, needless to say I had to make a second one to fit all the eggs. Here are the breeds I have eggs for.

4 - Leghorn, 4 - Bantam, 6 - Americauna, 4 - Polish Crested, 2 - Surprise cause they are unkown.

Hi fellow PA Person! I'm from York - just about neighbors!
I've got frizzled cochins and black copper marans that went in about 5 days ago, on the 24th I"ll be adding some frizzled easter eggers, lavender americanas and some lavender orpts. oh, and two backyard surprises went in today!

I love the surprise eggs. Cause it will be just like Christmas when (if) they hatch. Be like a kid waiting for it to open.

started some guinea eggs I found in the weeds today...been watching the nest..31 eggs! Started 35 chicken eggs yesterday, not sure what kind. Oh Boy, thats alot of birds!

I know, right?! Yay Christmas Surprise Eggs! There were really only supposed to be frizzled EE and copper marans in there - the seller accidently shipped me cochins instead, and then in the make-up shipment she did not have enough EEs so substituted the americanas and the orpingtons. My neighbor is farm-sitting and came home with 2 fresh mystery eggs that will go in for fun. With luck we'll have a grab bag of chicks!

Put eggs in today too! Over incubated at the beginning of the year... then the neighbors dog had way too much fun on the 4th of July weekend. So I needed to restart, but wanted to get past the real hot days of July and August before ordering new eggs. Seems prices are lower on eggs in August, will have to remember that.
Any how.
Into my incubator went 12 blue/black/splash orpington eggs which I ordered off of e-bay. My first experience with e-bay and I am totally blown away by the packing, speed and nice weight on the eggs. Very professional seller.
My incubator is a Brinsea Eco 20, which I will turn by hand three times a day. This will be my 4th hatching in it.
I'll probably throw some eggs in from my hatchery type hens as I feel the urge, since I'll be teaching 4H poultry this year; it would be cool to show the kids the on going development of chickens in the eggs (candling).

It sure is amazing how 7 eggs can magically turn into 20!

How long does a guinea take to incubate? And yes, 66 eggs are a lot!! Hope you have a good sized brooder, although, with the warmer weather, I suppose the need for artificial heat won't be as crucial as with March hatches.

First batch of eggs ruined (by me) my 2nd broody started sitting on Saturday, so this is day 3 for me. If all goes well should have chicks by sept 8th ( my daughters birthday ) ... Crossing my fingers and letting the hen do the work. The only thing I did do was put up a privacy curtain on the fromt of nesting box..keeps the other hens from laying on top of her or kicking her out of the nest. So far, it's worked...
