Eggs in Incubator..count down to May 21!!

From my understanding it takes the last 3 days for the chicks to orient themselves and everyone recomends laying them on their sides for those last 3 days
Oh and cutting the bottom out of those cartons seems to be a matter of preference I didn't do that to mine and so far I have only removed 6 or 7 eggs from this hatch due to infertility. BUT I am incubating in a cabinet incubator and am not sure if the results would be the same in a hovabator style

Is it too early to see a pip?? I swear I see a pip!

It wasn't there this morning! So it MUST be a pip! How long does it take from pip to zip?

Don't know, only had 2 living chicks out of the last bator full. So this time I'm trying to leave them in the egg turners and just turn them off for the hatch day!

I took the egg turner out. I though about using egg cartons since so many seem to like them, but I decided to just set them on the wire, I put paper towels on the wire first. Not sure if that matters. And I swear I just heard a chirping egg!

HELP!!!

Today is my first full day of lockdown (last night at 11:30) I checked everything this morning before work...temp was good humidity was good...I worked a twelve hour shift with an hour commute (so 14 hours total away today) Got home went into "chicken room" temp is at 100.5 instead of 99.5 and there is a faint smell coming from the ventilation holes....its not bad and I can only smell it when I get right up next to it, but is this normal? I candled last night and 19/20 eggs were still good. I threw the bad egg away.

Any suggestions?

Buttercup just stay calm it should be fine just bring the temp back down to 99.5 and make sure the hum is around 70-75 %. the smell I can't explain but as long as it doesn't smell like a rotten egg it should be fine.
I also have an update I have another two shelves that go into lockdown on sunday evening and we just candled and my daughter hollers "Daddy look I see that ones beak it is so awesome to share this miracle with her she is so enthusiastic it makes me a proud Daddy!!!!!

Both trays show very good development in all the eggs!!!!

It's probably ok. Although I really don't know what I'm doing yet. But I read that it's ok for temp variance 99-101. I read another post about a smell in the incubator and they said sometimes it's just the incubator and eggs smell. Whatever that means!! Sorry I can't be more help!
