eggs not formed propperly

I have 5 chickens and we feed them layers pellets but the eggs have a weak spot on them where the shell hasnt fully developed. The chickens have also stated eating the eggs and feathers. Is this a protein deficiency and if so what can i give them to improve it?

Crushed oyster shell. You can get it at a feed store.

I get a 50 lb bag of oyster shell for about $7. Well worth the cost!

Dry cat food in small doses will help correct any protein deficiencies they may have.
