I'm just scared I'll hurt them. I saw videos on the net how to vent and they make it look easy but I'm sure when I try it, it won't be easy at all.
What's the usual hatch ratio? 50/50. From what I've been reading it seems people get more roos then hens. I bought 4 chicks last Nov. and 3 turned out to be roos and 1 hen. I'm so happy I got the 1 hen she is the one supplying eggs for my incubator right now. She lays everyday at 8am. I just feel a bit bad for her. The 3 boys like to jump her a lot so I have to separate her sometimes but she gets stressed when ever I do that. I hope at least a few chicks from this hatch are hens so she will have some hen friends and maybe the males won't jump her as much.
A question just came to mind, How old should the chicks be before introducing them to the flock?
