Hi! This is my first time hatching eggs. I have a brooding hen that has one chick already hatched out. The issue is none of the other eggs are so far. It's only been a day and a half, since the first chick came out and I dont see any eggs piping so, do I need to just wait and see?

Well, Im really not sure what day the eggs are on. They were laid when I was away and I just found them. They should be close to the 21st day though if a baby already hatched right? As for candle I heard it was bad to move the eggs so I didn't do it.

It could be day 19 20 21 or even 22 wait a day or two more cuz you don't know what day they are on if I'm sure you will get more chicks has for candling it's fine to candle I candle on day 7 day 14 then again on day 18 lockdown it never hurt the eggs unless you drop one which I have :barnie but in two or three days you might want too candle too see if they are alive but since you done know what day they are on you don't really want too take them out from under the hen for a couple days and it could be that some of the eggs were layed in that spot a week after she started too sit on them so some of the eggs may be a couple days behind and not ready too hatch yet I hope they hatch soon and hope I helped maybe someone with more info can help you a little more :p keep me updated :frow

No prob happy too help ive incubated three times with a incubator and just two weeks ago I had my first broody hen hatch eggs but only one egg made it too lock down cuz one was not fertile abd the other died in the egg so she got one chick and she is very happy too have a baby and if I ever want too hatch eggs again I would like too do it with a broody they chicks are much more active hens are very good mother's

Yeah. I still really hope that at least some others will end up hatching. My other hens aren't very kind and welcoming.

The same with my hens my broody is the bottom of the pecking order but she has been standing up too them since her chick hatched hopefully your other eggs hatch the chick that hatched could have been early she my have hatched on day 19 or so and the others could be a couple days late and like I said some of the eggs might be a week off could another hen have layed an egg while she was broody. lock down last for three days after three days I would candle and see if you can see the chicks moving or maybe some eggs died during incubating under the hen I had a egg that died on day 18 or maybe some are not fertile it would be best too candle in two or three days look for veins and movement but even if you don't see movement the chick could be resting getting ready too hatch good luck hope they hatch soon
