Hi everyone. Thanks so much for the warm welcome! The four hens are thriving. We removed the metal leg band from the smaller RIR and she's walking great now. No limping. They're enjoying free ranging The back yard. We're getting 2 eggs a day. But every couple or three days we get a bluish green egg. I think it's the mystery hen laying that one. She's the alpha. She has bright red upright comb with 5 prongs. She's got reddish orange feathers mixed in with the black on her neck and her legs are blackish and her body feathers are blackish, but in the sunshine those body feathers have a blue - green glint. Wonder what she is? I don't know how to upload pix here. Need to learn. Thanks.

Thanks everyone. My husband is very helpful with the hens and we work together to keep their pen area dry and clean. We have had so much rain. We're in the northwest here, surrounded by redwoods and pines. We know we have a silver fox in these woods, so we're keeping our eyes open for sure! We lock them in the coop at night for safekeeping!! They go up the ramp into the coop at 7:45 sharp. Such good girls!!
