So I am all new to chickens ( 3mo now )
I bought 5 hens...light Brahma..white crested polish..golden laced polish...jersey giant and silkie
fertilized eggs
Welllllllllll turns out my silkie hen started crowing and is quite large so I now have a Roo in my flock !
Can anyone tell me....when I start seeing eggs....how do I know if they are edible or fertilized ?? :(
Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the info!
Someone told me they won't fertilize / grow into chick until they are put under heat or incubated ?? I dont get it ?

What do you mean? Sure the embryo won't grow without heat, but it is still alive. The embryo in the egg starts growing inside of the hen even before she lays it and while it's still warm from her body.

Ok so an egg is fertilized which appears as a bulls eye. The actual chick won't start developing until its in a hot area. That's how they ship them.
